In a survey of UM Journalism graduates from 2000-2010, more than 90 percent of those responding said they either had jobs or were self-employed. The most frequently mentioned job categories were marketing/PR jobs and jobs in print journalism.
More than 80% of respondents rated their overall career preparation as a 4 or a 5, out of a possible top score of 5. Our grads said they had a workplace advantage because of the hands-on education they got here. They also praised the faculty and the culture of collaboration and access to faculty.
All students are required to complete an internship prior to graduation. Job and internship opportunities for UM J-School students can be submitted to us online and will display on this page. While we transition to this new system, please continue to check here and UM IHOP for internship opportunities.
The School of Journalism takes no responsibility for positions posted here, nor ensures they will meet internship requirements. Please talk with your adviser prior to planning any internship.
